I’m Isabelle Cullen, a writer and educator based in Atlanta, Georgia.

I'm most joyful when experiencing a new place, reading a juicy book, building relationships and community, or creatively writing. Introspective and curious, I'm always open to learning and growing. Ultimately, my goal is to live a life centered in exploration, creativity, and authentic connection.

I hope that by sharing my authentic self and life experiences, I'll create a space for open, honest and vulnerable conversation & community.

What is Exploring Self?

Exploring Self is the documentation of my journey toward self-fulfillment. The newsletters I publish here every Wednesday range from personal stories of healing to creative writing to expansion on random thoughts, usually with the aim of better understanding myself and the world. I’m especially interested in how our lives are shaped by outside influences — societal expectations, who others think we are, and often, who we think we “should” be. What does it really mean to unravel our lives from outside influences? And is reaching self-actualization — the complete self-fulfillment of our potential, abilities, and appreciation of life — even a thing?

What is A Kind of Tomorrow?

A Kind of Tomorrow is an interview series centered on thoughtful conversations with power and weight. I interview an amalgam of people—artists, the elderly, friends, strangers—with the aim of unveiling life’s deeper truths. How do we think about the ever-elusive “tomorrow”? As a human species, what future are we really working toward? Does thinking too much about tomorrow take away from our present lives? I also ask much less existential questions like: What are you having for lunch tomorrow? or What’s something upcoming that you’re looking forward to?
